Rights of Mother Earth began as Run with the Jaguar because of the profound experience I had co-leading the 2009 Women’s Journey to the Rainforest of Ecuador. I reconnected deeply with the rainforest, the power and elequence of the jaguar, and with my own indigenous self.
The momentous First Peoples’ World Conference on Climate Change and Mother Earth’s Rights was held in Cochabamba Bolivia in April 2010. On the 20th Anniversary of Earth Day April22 35,000 people stood shoulder to shoulder as our proposed International Bill of Rights of Nature was read to the world. The honoring of Pachamama ~ Mother Earth and all that is Life Itself ~ is one of the primary common denominators I shared with other delegates.
My intention was to be a listening to the stories of other women who were called to Cochabamba at this time. I was deeply moved and inspired by the young women and the elder grandmothers who showed up and who are leading the way to reconnect all of us with Mother Earth. We are OF this earth. She is our mother.
Thus the underlying intention for RunWithTheJaguar has not changed but its appeal is expanding.
Run with the Jaguar is for every women ~ every women who is living her path or seeking her path. The path that is unfolding at this time for me (Robin Milam) is to live with dignity, bodaciously pushing the limits of my own comfort zone to give power to my own voice and to create a world that works for all. On a recent trip to the rainforest of Ecuador, I was reconnected with the essence of the feminine power of jaguar.
When I returned, my dear friend and co-leader Kathleen McIntire shared with me the beautiful song Mothers of All Ages by Ani Williams. “Mothers of all ages … sisters of all ages run with the jaguar fearlessly” eloquently resonated with me and inspired the title Run with the Jaguar .
I want to express my sincerest gratitude to Ani for her inspiration. She graciously allowed me to use her music as the theme song for a photo journal of our 2009 Women’s Journey to the Rainforest ~ Unleashing the Divine Feminine.
“Mothers of all ages,
Oh mothers of all ages,
dwelling within rainforest spaces,
telling the riddle of all ages
Breathing in the jungle’s fertile body
Receiving her bounty
we must give away, give away,
Sisters of all ages
Oh sisters of all ages
Run with the jaguar,
Run with the jaguar,
Run with the jaguar fearlessly,
Find your path with dignity
Woman in a maze release the cords that bind you
Walk free in the power of the beauty that surrounds you.
